Seriously though, why would anyone in their right mind (or left for that matter) make a dreidel out of clay? Wouldn't it be like, I don't know, hard to use or something? I just don't see it working very well...

Dude - a clay dreidel can be awesome. It would spin for quite a while, if made right. The only thing one needs to keep in mind with one is that you need more force to make it spin. Once that is accomplished, the weight of it alone, once converted to kinetic energy(as it spins) makes for a long spin.
Of course they have clay dreidels. Haven't you seen all those fancy ones that they sell at artsy judaica places. The kind you can't spin or else they'd break and they're really expensive.
